Lead DevOps Engineer

Summary

Andersen is hiring a Lead DevOps Engineer for a project modernizing CI/CD processes and enhancing a cloud-based software quality platform with scalable public API capabilities.

The customer is a technology-driven software quality services provider that helps organizations improve the reliability, usability, and performance of their digital products. It combines quality engineering expertise, flexible delivery models, and technology-enabled services to support web, mobile, and other digital solutions across multiple industries. The company helps businesses accelerate software delivery, improve product quality, and enhance end-user experience through scalable testing and quality assurance services.

The project is focused on preparing a cloud-based software quality platform for public API exposure by delivering a public API documentation portal and status page. It also includes modernizing CI/CD processes through migration from CircleCI to GitHub Actions and integrating standardized reusable workflows across multiple repositories.

Responsibilities

• Building the public API documentation pipeline: OpenAPI spec aggregation, validation, bundling, publishing (Stoplight Elements), wired into GitHub Actions reusable workflows.
• Evaluating, recommending, and implementing the public status page: New Relic Synthetics as the uptime source, alert policies per component, incident workflow.
• Managing alerts as code in Terraform within the client's existing conventions.
• Supporting live production changes on ECS Fargate: service migrations, load-balancer and cluster changes without downtime.
• Contributing to the ongoing migration from CircleCI to GitHub Actions across 111 repositories by integrating new pipelines into reusable workflow templates.
• Working closely with development teams and leading a dedicated DevOps team. The role is focused on delivering and supporting client-facing products rather than working exclusively on internal infrastructure.
• Taking ownership of tasks end-to-end: understand the problem, define the approach, implement the solution, and drive it through to production safely.
• Making independent technical decisions, communicating trade-offs clearly, and ensuring reliable execution in production environments.

Requirements

• Experience DevOps/platform engineering on AWS with deep ECS/Fargate expertise, including Service Connect, Graviton/multi-arch builds, cluster design, load balancers (ALB/NLB, target groups, deployment strategies), 7+ years of experience.
• Proven experience performing live production migrations and infrastructure changes, with a strong understanding of blast radius, rollback strategies, and zero-downtime deployments.
• Strong handson experience with GitHub Actions, including reusable workflows, composite actions, and OIDC/IAM integration.
• Handson experience with Terraform in established codebases and the ability to work within existing architecture, conventions, and patterns.
• Experience with New Relic, particularly Synthetics, alert policies, APIs/webhooks, and NerdGraph; or strong experience with an equivalent observability platform such as Datadog or Grafana, with the ability to ramp up quickly.
• Experience with OpenAPI tooling and docs-as-code pipelines.
• Strong senior level autonomy: ability to take ownership of a task from problem definition through production deployment with minimal supervision.
• Proven ability to work responsibly with elevated and production access, following structured and reliable engineering practices.
• Strong technical judgment: able to evaluate trade-offs, communicate reasoning clearly, and make well-founded recommendations even when information is incomplete.
• Level of English – from Upper-Intermediate and above.

Desired skills

• Experience with API documentation and developer portal tools such as Stoplight Elements or ReadMe.
• Experience with status-page platforms such as Atlassian Statuspage or Better Stack.
• Hands-on experience migrating CI/CD pipelines from CircleCI to GitHub Actions.
• Familiarity with OpenTelemetry.
• Experience with AWS Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as CloudFormation and SAM.
• Mature experience with AI-assisted development workflows, including the ability to critically review, verify, and validate AI-generated output and explain the resulting implementation and technical decisions to the team.
