Principal Solutions Architect (Front-End Focused)

Summary

Andersen is hiring a Principal Solutions Architect (Front-End Focused) for a project building scalable headless commerce solutions and optimizing web performance for global retail brands.

The customer is a digital solutions provider focused on building scalable, high-performance platforms. It leverages modern architectures and data-driven approaches to deliver measurable business outcomes across various industries.

The project is focused on designing and developing fast, scalable headless commerce frontends for global retail brands. It aims to improve web performance, Core Web Vitals, and conversion rates while leveraging AI-powered engineering practices to accelerate and optimize software delivery.

Responsibilities

• DesignIng and owning front-end architectures using Next.js, React, and TypeScript for enterprise commerce solutions.
• Leading architectural decisions on rendering strategies (SSR, edge, serverless), state management, caching, and Core Web Vitals optimization (documented in ADRs).
• Breaking down epics into implementable user stories with clear acceptance criteria and estimate complexity.
• Defining coding standards and conventions optimized for both engineers and AI agents.
• Collaborating directly with clients during discovery to translate business requirements into technical architecture roadmaps.
• Resolving technical ambiguity before sprints and unblock distributed engineering teams.

Requirements

• Experience leading front-end architecture decisions for distributed engineering teams (3+ people) for 3+ years.
• Deep proficiency in React, Next.js (App Router, React Server Components), and TypeScript.
• Proven experience architecting enterprise commerce platforms (Shopify Plus, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, BigCommerce, or similar).
• Strong expertise in performance engineering and Core Web Vitals optimization (LCP, CLS, INP, caching, CDN).
• Experience in structuring specifications, documentation, and tasks specifically for AI agent execution (Cursor, Claude Code, etc.).
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills (client-facing, strategic alignment, explaining tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders).
• Level of English – from Upper-Intermediate and above.

Desired skills

• Experience with headless CMS platforms (Contentful, Sanity, Contentstack).
• Experience architecting headless commerce or composable storefronts (Shopify Storefront API, SFCC Composable Storefront).
• Familiarity with testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress, Playwright).
• Experience with SCAYLE.
• Track record of working across distributed, async-first teams across multiple time zones.
