Summary

Andersen is hiring an Embedded Engineer for a project developing embedded solutions for safety systems and delivering reliable firmware for next-generation electronic devices.

Our customer is an established manufacturer of electronic safety and security solutions. It develops and produces technologies that help organizations protect people, facilities, and critical assets across commercial and industrial environments. Through continuous investment in research, automation, and manufacturing capabilities, the company delivers reliable solutions to customers in international markets.

The project is focused on developing embedded solutions for fire safety and emergency systems, including control panels, detection devices, emergency lighting, and central battery systems. It covers firmware development, system architecture, hardware integration, and product reliability for MCU-based devices.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining embedded firmware according to product requirements.
  • Implementing new features and enhancements using C and C++.
  • Contributing to firmware architecture and system-level design decisions.
  • Participating in requirements analysis, feasibility studies, and technical risk assessments.
  • Developing firmware for ARM Cortex-M microcontroller-based systems.
  • Working with both Bare-Metal and FreeRTOS environments.
  • Designing and implementing low-level drivers and hardware abstraction layers.
  • Integrating and maintaining communication interfaces and protocols (UART, SPI, I2C).
  • Debugging and validating embedded systems using software and laboratory tools.
  • Reviewing, optimizing, and extending existing firmware codebases.
  • Supporting hardware development activities, including schematic and PCB reviews.
  • Defining hardware requirements based on firmware and system needs.
  • Preparing and maintaining technical documentation using Doxygen and Confluence.
  • Participating in code reviews and technical discussions.
  • Collaborating closely with distributed development teams.
  • Delivering technical tasks and project milestones within agreed timelines.

Requirements

  • Embedded firmware development experience for 3+ years.
  • Strong programming skills in C.
  • Commercial experience with microcontroller-based systems.
  • Experience developing firmware for ARM Cortex-M (M0/M0+/M3/M4/M7).
  • Hands-on experience with FreeRTOS or similar RTOS platforms.
  • Experience with Bare-Metal embedded development.
  • Strong understanding of embedded electronic systems.
  • Ability to read and analyze analog, digital, and power electronics schematics.
  • Experience in hardware-software integration.
  • Understanding of firmware-driven hardware requirements.
  • Proven experience with UART, SPI, and I2C.
  • Experience in embedded system debugging and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work with large and mature codebases.
  • Knowledge of system design methodologies and architectural principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Git-based version control.
  • Experience with Jira or similar issue-tracking systems.
  • Technical documentation experience (Doxygen, Confluence, or similar).
  • Familiarity with code review practices and development workflows.
  • Level of English – Upper-Intermediate and above.

Desired skills

  • Good knowledge of PCB design principles for EMC compliance and EMI reduction.
  • Experience with object-oriented programming concepts, preferably in C++.
  • Experience with Ethernet, Wi-Fi and network-connected embedded devices.
  • Familiarity with cloud services and IoT architectures.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles for embedded and connected products.
  • Experience with Linux-based embedded systems or Linux kernel development.
  • Experience with UML or other system-modelling methodologies.
  • Previous experience with certified or regulated electronic products.
  • Familiarity with fire detection, emergency lighting or central battery system applications.
