Software Engineer in Test (EU)

Summary

Andersen is hiring a Software Engineer in Test in the EU for a project modernizing retail technology and ensuring quality across a scalable enterprise data and analytics platform.

The project is focused on modernizing retail technology and establishing a secure, scalable, and governed enterprise data and analytics platform. It aims to transform reporting capabilities, integrate key data sources, and support regulatory and operational reporting, advanced analytics, data migration, and future strategic data products.

Responsibilities

• Understanding the data and data-record testing requirements.
• Analyzing data testing requirements and defining appropriate test coverage.
• Designing automated tests rather than performing manual SQL validation.
• Building a data test automation framework from scratch.
• Developing test code alongside developers.
• Maintaining test code in GitHub or a separate test repository.
• Automating test design, test execution, and test reporting.
• Integrating automated tests into ADO pipelines / CI/CD.
• Validating data against source systems.
• Performing automated data reconciliation.
• Testing data transformations / ETL processes.
• Working with databases and writing SQL queries.
• Testing data within Databricks.
• Testing Power BI reports, dashboards and paginated reports.
• Ensuring automated tests provide consistent and reliable results.
• Working with AI/LLMs as part of the testing approach.
• Thinking about verification not only at the individual test level, but also in the context of the wider enterprise application.
• Working closely with developers during development and testing activities.

Requirements

• Experience in software testing for 5+ years, with strong hands-on expertise in data testing.
• Experience testing enterprise-scale data solutions and complex data platforms.
• Strong knowledge of databases and SQL, including data validation and reconciliation.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks and ETL/data pipeline testing.
• Strong programming/scripting skills in Python, C#, and/or TypeScript.
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining automated testing frameworks for data solutions.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps (ADO), ADO Pipelines, and GitHub.
• Ability to work closely with developers and maintain test code/repositories.
• Level of English – from Intermediate+ and above.

Desired skills

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, DAX, and PySpark / Apache Spark.
• Experience testing Power BI reports, paginated reports, and dashboards.
• Knowledge of data modeling principles and practices.
• Experience with AI/LLM-based testing approaches.
• Experience with GitHub Copilot.
• Microsoft Fabric certifications (DP-600 or DP-700).
• Databricks certification (DP-750).
• Previous Data Engineering experience or a strong data engineering background.
