Summary

Andersen is seeking a Product Owner for a project modernizing a core travel platform and delivering scalable, flexible solutions for booking and itinerary management.

The customer is a technology-driven company in the travel sector, providing a comprehensive booking and procurement platform for industry professionals. Its solutions support large transaction volumes, integrate with a wide network of partners, and offer tools that streamline operations and enhance productivity. Focused on innovation and scalability, the customer continues to expand its ecosystem, strengthen partnerships, and improve data accuracy to deliver a modern digital infrastructure for the travel value chain.

The project is focused on modernizing a core travel booking and itinerary platform through incremental migration from a monolithic architecture to microservices. It aims to improve platform scalability, maintainability, and flexibility while enhancing key travel service management, integration, and itinerary-building capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Owning, prioritizing, and continuously refining the product backlog to maximize business value.
  • Framing the business problem before the solution: run discovery with stakeholders, define success metrics, and justify scope in value/effort terms.
  • Defining MVP scope and defend it under fixed deadlines, deferring non-essential functionality with a clear rationale.
  • Eliciting, analyzing, and documenting business and functional requirements (user stories, acceptance criteria, use cases).
  • Producing integration-level specifications together with the solution architect: API contracts, sequence and state diagrams, data models.
  • Contributing to the incremental decomposition of a legacy monolith — scoping which functional area moves next and what it must replace.
  • Maintaining up-to-date product documentation: specifications, release notes, process descriptions.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to clarify scope, resolve ambiguities, and manage changing priorities.
  • Aligning with product managers on the boundary between roadmap-level strategy and delivery-level execution.
  • Working closely with development, QA, and UX teams during sprint planning, refinement, and reviews.
  • Accepting completed work against defined acceptance criteria and make the release-readiness call with QA and stakeholders.
  • Tracking adoption and outcomes after release through analytics and user feedback.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Product Owner / Business Analyst in software development for 5+ years.
  • Strong skills in backlog management and requirements documentation (user stories, BRD/FRD, acceptance criteria).
  • Ability to structure an open-ended, under-specified problem on the spot and ask the right clarifying questions.
  • Technical fluency sufficient to work with APIs, integrations, and data models.
  • Experience with legacy systems and long ramp-up on undocumented codebases.
  • Demonstrated ability to push back on stakeholders with evidence — value, effort, and trade-off cost — rather than refusal.
  • Adaptability to frequently shifting priorities driven by a dominant business stakeholder.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile/Scrum (SAFe is a plus).
  • Experience working with distributed teams.
  • Proficiency with Jira and Confluence.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Level of English – from Upper-Intermediate and above.

Desired skills

  • Experience in travel tech / fintech.
  • Experience with monolith-to-microservices migration.
  • Product Owner certification (CSPO, PSPO).
  • Wireframing and diagramming tools (Figma, PlantUML or similar).
  • Familiarity with product analytics and outcome measurement.
  • Experience in fixed-price delivery with hard deadlines.
